Inspiration
The Kui Long Kui Feng Pattern Pot is a bronze vessel from the Spring and Autumn period, characterized by its detailed double-eared, triple-ring design. Now a treasured artifact in the National Museum of China, this vessel is renowned for its intricate craftsmanship. Reproducing the vessel’s aged appearance, heavy texture, and rusted features through embroidery presents a unique challenge. Master Wang Xinyuan’s goal was to faithfully capture the vessel’s grandeur and historical essence in his embroidery work.
Creation Process
Material Selection: To accurately reflect the vessel’s complex patterns and historical texture, Master Wang Xinyuan selected over 1,300 shades of mulberry silk. This diverse color range enabled the creation of a detailed and authentic representation of the original bronze vessel.
Precision Craftsmanship: The embroidery process required a meticulous approach to recreate the vessel’s distinctive embossed patterns. Master Wang used ultra-fine silk threads, dedicating ten months to achieving the desired depth and texture. This involved intricate work to capture the vessel’s weathered and rusted appearance, ensuring a lifelike and evocative interpretation.
Pattern Recreation: Master Wang’s detailed approach ensured that each stitch conveyed the vessel’s historical and artistic intricacies. The embroidery not only mirrors the original bronze vessel’s beauty but also adds a contemporary artistic perspective, bringing the ancient design to life in a modern medium.
